Street photography. Ephemera Dominant colors: yellows, greens, pale blue background
In Madison, Wisconsin, many storefronts were boarded during the height of the Black Lives Matter energy and other political riots in 2020. Many shops on State Street, including Paul's Books, turned their plywood and particle board into works of art. This original work spans 3 sheets of 4x8 plywood. Early morning light created dramatic textures in the particle board. Afternoon light, trees cast shadows. Rain created dark patches. I made an effort to capture a shot with even lighting and did slight editing in Photoshop and removed seams between boards. I captured a picture and made a nice print, but credit goes to the painter/s at Paul's Books for the original concept, execution, and installation.
