I spent some time in France, both as a student and as tourist. I learned a lot about World War II when there. I hope to go back someday.
This print results from a macro photograph of a French postage stamp from the 1940s. It features a touching etching by the artist André Spitz (1883-1977). It appears that proceeds helped raise money to assist victims from the war. It's not my etching, just my photograph of it. I find the image and sentiment moving, informative, and wanted to share it.
I photographed it and made a larger print circa 2010, and it looks nice as a card, too. It's a reasonably good, sharp print of the etching. The ink has a brown tone.
Many of my art card compositions are available as signed, limited edition prints or as unsigned wall art display (canvas, etc.). Find more information on the site or contact me for details.
