I spent some time in France, as both student and tourist. While in Normandy, I learned a lot about World War II, fromage, saucisson sec, trains, espresso. I hope to go back someday.

This print results from a macro photograph of a French postage stamp from the 1940s. It features an etching with a touching scene by the artist André Spitz (1883-1977). It appears that it helped raise money to assist victims from the war. It's not my etching, just my photograph of it. I find the image and sentiment moving, informative, and wanted to share it.

I photographed it and made a larger print circa 2010, and it looks nice on this a card, too. The stamp has a reasonably good, sharp print of the etching, and the ink has a brown tone.

Many of my art card compositions are available as signed, limited edition prints and unsigned wall art (canvas, etc.). Contact me for details.
