"La Recherche" is a layered composition. I photographed the wonderful model, Emily, in studio. I captured the diagonal ripples while out on a summer day trip. The sunlight dazzled through the shallow water. Finally, the circular ripples around her feet—I dripped water into a pan with my left hand and fired the shutter with my right.
